Channel 5 Quits Canvas (temporarily)
By: Steve on July 20, 2010

Channel 5 recently announced its withdrawal from the partnership shaping the multi-network IPTV platform Project Canvas pending a review of its digital spend after a massive drop in sales and advertising shares over the past year.
Channel 5′s parent company RTL are reportedly in talks to sell the channel and that Richard Desmond, owner of the Daily Express and Television X, is hotly-tipped to be buying the network and has stated his intention to bring Channel 5 back to Project Canvas once the purchase has gone through.
In the meantime, telecoms company Orange have been in talks to take Channel 5′s place in the Project Canvas partnership, having already made motions to get more fully into the IPTV market. What this means for Channel 5′s return to the table we’re not entirely sure.
Now, if we just get a theme tune and a title sequence put together this could turn out to be a soap opera worthy of Dallas.
