The Saudi Television Network (STV) is the state-owned central broadcast network in Saudi Arabia and has a portfolio of nine channels.

STV wanted to assert itself as the television network of choice throughout the region because of the growing number of new channels becoming available to audiences in the Middle East and the subsequent rise in direct competition with STV.

Our process began with an extensive consultation process with the individual stakeholder groups within STV, from the channel-owners to the programme-makers.

The network brand model that we adopted would require the development of distinct brands for each of STV’s channel identities, with the over-arching network brand to be used as a connector endorsing each channel.

We realised that the key to unifying the network and its individual channel brands would be through the use of a new and bespoke typeface.

Tanseek was developed to ensure that it worked in both Arabic and Latin script. It has been implemented across the entire STV network, from promo packaging and news graphics through all the way down to stationery templates in the network offices.
