Australian Designers » 3rd Wednesdays

Greetings connoisseurs and welcome to this month’s 3rd Wednesday.

Firstly is it just me or is the Third Wednesday of the month arriving quicker than usual?

Anyhow, this month our Creative team was treated to some expertly crafted short-crust pastry delights from Alan.

For the vegetarian pie lover he supplied a filling of courgette, potato, eggplant and leek with black bean sauce.

And for the non-vegetarian (carnivarian?) pie enthusiast  there was a filling of pork, leek and potato with Chi Shu sauce.

As soon as we got stuck into the pies our conference room very quickly filled with approving choruses of ‘Mmmm’ and some eager requests to be invited over to Alan’s house for dinner.

For our artistic edification we were given a heartfelt lecture from Jordan that highlighted the impressive work of the relatively unsung heroes of design in Australia, including the sublimely rich designs of Douglas Annand;

The continual reinventions of the Epicurean magazine under Les Mason;

The autodidact of typographical and architectural design, Garry Emery;

The branding identity work of Ken Cato;

And the patriotically progressive work of Stephen Banham.

All in all a very satisfying entry to the Third Wednesday canon.

See you next (3rd) Wednesday!
