Musical Muscles and Mini-Cars » 3rd Wednesdays
By: Steve on September 24, 2012
So, as promised, this month we had Alan regale us with the most interesting things he’s seen since last month whilst we enjoyed a platter of pastry perfection from Charlie.
This may be the most addictive viral I’ve ever encountered. Even more so that the Hunter Shoots a Bear interactive video for Tipp-Ex.
Abby Morgan, Senior Manager of Strategic Sales Partnerships at Vimeo, explains how it works:
“In addition to the live video recording of Terry Crews, the video is a composite of over 150 different elements. While the Flash player runs through the music video, it loads the interactive portion, which is “effectively a new player.” The real triumph was figuring out how to speed up the server-side compositing of 150 moving parts so that users could record and save their own Muscle Music videos. The process they came up with is surprisingly fast.”
The interaction with the video is ingenious, easily one of the most startling uses of web video I’ve ever seen and definitely in keeping with the high-standard of socially-driven brand marketing that Old Spice set back in 2010.
The CityCar Project
The CityCar project was started in 2003 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab. It is an urban all-electric concept car designed to counter inner-city congestion and pollution:
Charlie was one of the founding fathers of the 3rd Wednesdays movement so it’s always a pleasure to have him as our guest chef.
ASked to describe what he had prepared for us, Charlie answered:
“One is a delectable lamb and mint, the other a juicy asparagus, pea and mint. There is a definite and tangible mint theme.”
Unfortunately Charlie is currently busier than a gang of bees so I’m I’m unable to share the recipes with you, but you can still look at them. Go on: look…
