3D Art Brings Fish To Life
By: Steve on January 12, 2012

Riusuke Fukahori paints goldfish a layer at a time onto acrylic resin, until a three-dimensional image is formed. A process that’s not a million miles from the way that a 3D-printer works.

This technique of creating three-dimensional by layering two-dimensional planes is also very similar to the methods used by Xia Xiao Wan and David Spriggs in their art.

But where those artists achieve a spookily dream-like abstraction in their art, Riusuke’s renders his fish with startlingly lifelike qualities.

Thanks to @steve2thehaw for the heads-up!
