Eurovision 2011 Wins Rose d’Or

The live final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Dusseldorf has been awarded the Rose d’Or for Best Live Event Show as well as an Innovation Rose for Stefan Raab, who co-hosted the broadcast. The awards were presented at the culmination of the week-long Rose d’Or Global Entertainment Television Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland. Lutz Marmor, Director General of the official host network NDR, said: “The Eurovision Song Contest is a major television event in Europe. We are very happy with the international recognition of the Golden Rose.” The Rose d'Or award gala Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the EBU said: “We are very proud with such prestigious recognition for the Eurovision Song Contest, which shows that after almost 57 years it might just be more alive than ever” The Rose d’Or awards panel is comprised of fifty television experts from twenty seven countries around the world. Our congratulations to all the team at Brainpool and NDR on this, their second major award after winning the Eyes and Ears of Europe Award for Innovation in November last year.
