Stunning set of posters for the new ¬†Darren Aronofsky film, Black Swan. The adverts were created by the British design studio LaBoca and have taken inspiration from both early 20th century ballet ads as well as Polish and Czech posters of the 60’s & 70’s.¬†According to Scot Bendall (Art director and one of the three illustrators involved) he says that: “Each poster aims to convey the grace and fragility of the White Swan in contrast to the aggression and power of the Black Swan”. It is very refreshing to see a set of posters that try to encompass the essence and emotions of a film instead the usual tactic of promoting its big budget stars. With this collection and the recent polish film poster exhibition at the Cin√©philia West in London, it would be brilliant if we are now seeing a resurgence in this style of advertising… Watch this space.
