Here are a couple of ads featuring hand-drawn images as their driving concepts. This ad for Faber Castell, if it’s a genuine one-take continuous line drawing, is jaw-droppingly impressive: The second, from Volkswagon, is a bit livelier but, due to the stop-motion rendering, is less impressive and more cutesy than the Faber Castell, which, one has to assume, is entirely the feeling that VW were after: In an era that’s as digitally driven as our, it’s refreshing see an appetite in commercial messaging for the sublime artistry of pen on paper.
