Sony has revealed four new smartphones featuring their new handset branding at the CES in Las Vegas. Since the announcement was made last year that Sony were buying out Ericsson’s share of their joint mobile venture we’ve been keen to see what the impact on their branding would be. The Sony Ericsson logotype has been replaced with the traditional Sony logotype, but the stylised Sony Ericsson sphere is reported to still be present on the back of these new handsets. This will probably be a transitional element to maintain a level of continuity in the mind of the consumer whilst the new, holistic brand envronment for Sony phones gradually come to the fore. sony experia smartphone The Xperia S will be the first of the new handsets to go on sale and will run on Android and, among other things, features near field communication (NFC) technology, enabling users to pay for purchases with it in-store.
